It was cold, just under 40 degrees, and raining when members of the Mtn Grove VFW, Auxiliary 3770, Mountain Grove Firefighters & members of the community gathered on the public square of Mtn Grove, Mo to participate in a “Colors Ceremony” in observance of Firefighters Day.
The crowd is formed into a rank to render honors as Old Glory and the POW/MIA Flag are hoisted to the top of the flagpole on the square as the bugle call “To the Colors” and the National Anthem “Star Spangled Banner” are played over a loudspeaker.
There were four members of the VFW, two members of Auxiliary 3770, eight Mtn Grove Firefighters and two supportive citizens present for this brief ceremony. A heartfelt thank you is sent to the firefighters and citizens.

Post 3770 members present were: Lyman “Pete” Proctor, David Thompkins, Chester Foulkrod, and Iris Joe Kelley. The names of the firefighters and citizens are not available at this time.
The next “Colors Ceremony” will be top observe V-E Day. The ceremony will be held on Monday, May 8th at 9:00 a.m. on the Mtn Grove Public Square
