This display was set up inside the main entrance to the school gym
The Mtn Grove VFW presented and posted the Colors followed by the Pledge of Allegiance and then the Star Spangled Banner was sung by the High School Choir.’
Awards were presented for this year’s Patriots Pen Essay writing contest. (Left to right) 2nd place Emily Sinning, 3rd place Chris Edward, 1st place Emily Johnson & Mtn Grove VFW Rep Iris Joe Kelley. There were 70 entries from Norwood School this year.

Voice of Democracy audio essay winners were announced. (left to right) 3rd Place Marla Chadwell, 2nd place Sara McIntosh, 1st place Derek Camp, and Mtn Grove VFW Rep Iris Joe Kelley. There were 20 entries from Norwood School for 2016.

Elementary grades K thru 2 sing “I Love my country”
Norwood FFA members Bayli Calhoun, Emma Nelson and Chloe Crain provide a Flag folding demonstration and explain the meaning behind each of the folds.
Elementary grades 3 thru 5 sing “Grateful Nation” and then the entire Norwood Elementary grades sing “Grand Ole Flag”
A slide show of local veterans was then presented on two large screens. Students present photos and information on their relatives. Each year this slide show grows as it now takes around 15 minutes.

The Mtn Grove VFW then retired the Colors and the assembly was dismissed. Refreshments were served to the veterans in the Multi-Purpose room following the program.
