Patriot Day Observed by Mtn Grove VFW and Community

The morning was cool but rapidly warming on Monday, September 11, 2017 when members of the Mtn Grove Fire Dept (4) , Mtn Grove Police Dept (2) , Mtn Grove VFW (4)  &  Auxiliary (3)  and members (3) of the community in general gathered before 9:00 a.m. for a “Colors Ceremony” in remembrance of the destruction of the twin towers in New York City by terrorists that quickly took our nation into a long war against terrorism that is ongoing today, 16 years later.. The US and POW/MIA Flags were hoisted to the peak of the flagpole during the bugle call To The Colors and remained there during the playing of the National Anthem and slowly lowered to half-staff as Taps played.

The next ceremony will be held on Friday, September 15 to observe POW/MIA awareness Day.  All members of the VFW are urged to attend and the entire community is invited to join those gathered on the public square.

The photos below were taken at the conclusion of the ceremony.
