Saturday, January 27, 2018 was cold but a few gathered at 9:00 am on the public square of Mountain Grove, Mo to observe the 45th Anniversary of the Signing of the Paris Peace Accords. It is prescribed in the National By-Laws of the Veterans of Foreign Wars that each post observe this day among other required dates.
There were ten in attendance but not all were members of the VFW.
VFW member Lyman “Pete” Proctor, Past Post CDR; VFW member David Thompkins, volunteer with joint project with Mtn Grove School known as “Reading is First”; VFW member Archie Daily, Past Post CDR; VFW Auxiliary member Glinda Kelley; &
citizen Hannah Kelly, Mo State Rep from District 141; citizen James Tooley, Mtn Grove Fire Dept; citizen David Todd, Mtn Grove Fire Dept: VFW member Jay Beal, Past Post CDR; and VFW Auxiliary member Chris Dailey.
The Mountain Grove Fire Dept currently has a project to provide “Smoke Alarms” to the homes of the citizens of the Mtn Grove area that request one. There are no funds provided by the Fire Dept and the Dept is accepting donations to fund the project.
